Infant Mental Health Endorsement Requirements
Overview Initial Endorsement
Through a license agreement with the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health (MI-AIMH), the Virginia Association for Infant Mental Health (VAIMH) has the legal authorization to use the MI-AIMH Competency Guidelines® and Endorsement for Culturally Sen- sitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health in Virginia.
The Endorsement includes four categories:
- Infant Family Associate (IFA)
- Infant Family Specialist (IFS)
- Infant Mental Health Specialist (IMHS)
- Infant Mental Health Mentor (IMHM)
- Clinical (IMHM-C)
- Policy (IMHM-P)
- Research/Faculty (IMHM-R/F)
*PLEASE NOTE: For those pursuing Category III or IV, participation in the VAIMH Course (24 hours) & Related Reflective Supervision Training series (24 hours) that covers foundational Infant Mental Health concepts is recommended. The VAIMH training is provided by two endorsed professionals at Category III and/or Category IV Clinical who are also Licensed Mental Health professionals. This training is offered annually beginning in October for 12 months (2 hours per month). Please contact the Endorsement Administrator if interested in registering.
